Why London students

Cambridge 0625 vs Edexcel 4PH1: why the specification matters

Both qualifications assess Physics, but their topic order, papers and question styles differ. Cambridge IGCSE Physics 0625 has Core and Extended routes; Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Physics 4PH1 has its own papers and required equations. Before lessons begin we confirm the board, code, exam year and current school topics, and use the current specification for formula requirements and practical skills. Some London schools teach separate Physics; others teach a broader science course, so check which your child takes. Strong at Maths but weak at Physics? Our IGCSE Maths tutors in London can strengthen the calculation side.

What we fix

Which IGCSE Physics topics cause most difficulty?

01

Forces, motion and graphs

Distance, displacement, speed, velocity and acceleration get mixed up.

How tutoring helps:Choose the right relationship and read motion graphs before calculating.

02

Electricity and circuits

Current, potential difference, resistance, power and energy appear together.

How tutoring helps:Pick the formula, rearrange it and keep units consistent.

03

Energy transfers and efficiency

Questions mix explanation with calculation.

How tutoring helps:Separate energy stores, transfer pathways and efficiency sums.

04

Practical-based questions

Answers miss variables, controls, measurements or ways to improve reliability.

How tutoring helps:Practise planning and evaluating investigations to the mark scheme.

Worked example: a calculation that earns method marks

An object's velocity changes from 4 m/s to 16 m/s in 6 seconds. Find its acceleration. Acceleration = change in velocity ÷ time = (16 − 4) ÷ 6 = 12 ÷ 6 = 2 m/s². The habits that matter: pick the relationship, substitute accurately and give the unit.

Why Combo Tutors

How our online Physics lessons are structured

01

Concept, then maths

The student explains the Physics before any formula, then practises rearranging, units and precision.

02

Apply and answer

Graphs, data and mixed-topic questions, with working and explanations written the way examiners reward.

03

Review mistakes

Errors grouped by concept, maths, application or technique, so the fix targets the cause.

What UK families say

Sarah M.

IB Mathematics · London

My daughter was struggling with IB Mathematics HL and had almost given up hope of getting a 7. After just two months of weekly sessions with her Combo Tutors tutor, her confidence soared and she went from a predicted 4 to a final grade of 6. The personalised approach made all the difference—her tutor identified exactly where the gaps were and worked through them systematically.

James P.

A-Level Physics · Manchester

My son started tutoring for A-Level Physics about three months before his exams. His tutor was incredibly patient and broke down complex topics like electromagnetic induction into simple, intuitive steps. He ended up getting an A* which we genuinely didn't think was possible. I'd recommend Combo Tutors to any parent who wants a tutor that actually cares about your child's progress.

Priya K.

GCSE Science · Birmingham

We needed help with GCSE Science for my son who found chemistry particularly challenging. His tutor made the sessions engaging and relatable—using real-world examples that finally made reactions and bonding click for him. He improved by two grades and, more importantly, actually enjoys science now.

+150 Points
I used Combo Tutors to prepare for the Digital SAT. My tutor helped me develop a study plan, learn time-management techniques, and practise with realistic mock tests. My score jumped by 150 points between my diagnostic and actual exam. The Digital SAT-specific tips were especially valuable since the format was new to me.

B → A*
Finding a tutor who understood the Cambridge IGCSE syllabus was a challenge until we found Combo Tutors. Our daughter's English tutor was exceptional—she improved her essay structure, analytical writing, and comprehension skills significantly. She achieved an A* and is now much more confident heading into her A-Level studies.

Oliver R.

AP Student · San Francisco

3 → 5
I was really anxious about AP Chemistry because our school teacher moved through the material so fast. My Combo Tutors tutor helped me revisit topics at my own pace, work through past free-response questions, and build a solid revision strategy. I scored a 5 on the exam and feel well-prepared for university chemistry. Couldn't have done it without them.
